Your information, explained

Privacy Policy

What Neat collects, why we use it, and the choices you have about your information.

1. Who we are

Neat is a home-bar and cocktail app. The website at drinkne.at and the Neat iOS application are published and operated by Raul Victor Aquino de Queiroz under the name Neat Co., based in Brazil (“Neat”, “we”, “us”). For questions about your personal information, contact privacy@drinkne.at. For help with the app, visit Support.

2. Information we collect

When you visit the website

The website is informational. It has no account registration or waitlist form. The example shelf runs in your browser; we do not save the bottles you select or send them to the Neat app service.

Our website host, Vercel, may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser or user agent, requested page, and time of access to deliver and protect the website. We do not include advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts in the site.

When you create and use an app account

  • Sign-in and profile information. Neat supports Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. We receive a provider identifier and verified email address, which may be an Apple private-relay address, and process the authentication information needed to sign you in. We store your Neat account identifier, handle, display name, and optional profile information you provide, such as a bio or avatar. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
  • Apple authorization credentials — not yet enabled. When enabled, Neat may temporarily process the optional authorization code Apple supplies during sign-in and retain one current Apple refresh token to revoke Neat’s Sign in with Apple authorization when you delete your Neat account. Access to that credential is restricted to the service handling this process. We will not keep an archive of Apple access or identity tokens for this feature, or include its codes and tokens in app responses, sync, exports, or routine logs. Sign-in and Neat account deletion do not depend on a successful capture or Apple response.
  • Date of birth. We collect and store your full date of birth to check age eligibility. It is not displayed on your profile or shared with other users.
  • Your cabinet and preferences. Bottles, bottle status, wishlist entries, pantry choices, ratings, notes, and other details you choose to enter, including purchase details if you record them.
  • Cocktails, tastings, and recipes. What you record as made or tasted, the bottles and substitutions you use, your notes, dates, ratings, and recipes or catalog information you contribute.
  • Social activity. Follow relationships, activity shared through the feed, privacy settings, blocked accounts, and reports you submit.
  • Photos, when you use a photo feature. Images you choose to upload for a profile, bottle, or drink, together with the information needed to store and display those files. This does not require sending your entire photo library to Neat.
  • Technical information. Account and session identifiers support sign-in and security. Request-limit records use an IP address or account identifier to prevent abuse. Routine app-service logs record a request identifier, operation, time, response status, duration, and a known error code, without request bodies, authentication tokens, or personal notes. If you send a bug report, we also process the app version, device details, screenshots, and diagnostics you choose to include.
  • Notifications, if enabled. Where a build supports push notifications and you enable them, a device notification token and your preferences let us deliver those notifications.

When you contact us

We receive your email address, the content of your message, and any attachments or account details you provide so we can respond. Please include only information relevant to your request.

3. How we use information

  • Create and secure your account, maintain sessions, and prevent impersonation or misuse.
  • Match your cabinet to recipes, explain substitutions, and suggest useful additions to your wishlist.
  • Save your notes and preferences and sync your cabinet and activity across devices.
  • Display profiles and content according to their visibility settings, maintain follows, and respond to reports.
  • Deliver notifications you enable, provide support, investigate errors, and meet legal obligations.

If Apple and Google provide the same verified email address, Neat can link those sign-in methods to the same account. Apple’s Hide My Email can result in a separate account when its relay address differs from your Google address.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your cabinet or log data to train third-party advertising models. Neat does not use consumption streaks or volume milestones to encourage drinking.

4. What other people can see

Profiles are public by default. Your profile setting also governs the visibility of your cabinet, cocktail logs, and tastings. Unless you make your profile or an individual entry private, other users can see the associated profile information and non-private entries. Public activity may appear in followers’ feeds.

You can set your profile to Private and mark individual cabinet entries or logs private where those controls are available. An entry’s privacy setting can further restrict access; it does not override a private profile to make the entry public.

Your date of birth, sign-in email, authentication information, and recorded purchase prices are not public profile or feed information. Catalog contributions are intended for shared use and are handled separately from your personal cabinet and logs.

A recipe you create privately remains private. If you choose to propose it for the shared catalog, maintainers can review the proposal and any evidence you attach. Acceptance creates a separate public recipe; your private original and existing logs keep their privacy settings. Submission evidence is available to you and authorized maintainers, not to other catalog users.

Changing visibility controls access through Neat. It cannot erase screenshots or other copies someone made while information was visible to them.

5. Service providers and other recipients

We use the following services to operate Neat:

  • Apple and Google: authentication when you choose their sign-in service. Apple also provides App Store distribution and, where enabled, push-notification delivery.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): the app service, database, file storage, content delivery, and operational logs.
  • Vercel: hosting and delivery of drinkne.at.
  • Email service providers: handling the messages you send us and our replies.

Our requirements for providers that process personal information on our behalf are to use it for the service they provide, follow our instructions and applicable law, and protect it to the same or an equivalent standard described in this policy. Providers may also process information under their own terms when you interact directly with their services.

We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or legal claims. Information shared with other Neat users is governed by the visibility settings described above.

6. Where information is processed

Neat is operated from Brazil. The app’s core AWS infrastructure is in Northern Virginia, United States. Website delivery, content delivery, sign-in, and email providers may process information in other countries where they operate.

International transfers are subject to the safeguards required by the laws that apply to your information. You can contact privacy@drinkne.at to ask about the providers, destinations, and transfer safeguards relevant to your data.

7. Retention and account deletion

We retain account information, your cabinet, and your logs while they are needed to provide your account and the features you use. Support correspondence and security records are retained as needed to resolve requests, protect the service, or meet legal requirements.

You can initiate an account deletion request in the app: open You, find the Account section, select Delete account, and confirm. Removing the app from your phone, signing out, or disconnecting Apple or Google alone does not delete information stored by Neat.

Starting deletion disables the account and ends its sessions. Scheduled cleanup then removes stored personal account information and associated personal uploads within the 30-day deletion window. Deletion does not happen merely because you uninstall the app. Contact us if you need help with a pending request.

When Apple credential retention is enabled: we will stop using a sign-in authorization code within five minutes of receiving it, or sooner if the original sign-in attempt expires. If signup is not completed, we will stop using its retained Apple credential when that original attempt expires, including its existing 60-second verification allowance. For an active account, we will retain only the current credential needed for the deletion process. After you request deletion, attempts to revoke that authorization will stop within 24 hours of that request, even if Apple is unavailable.

We will request removal of these credentials promptly after their allowed use ends, they are replaced, or they are no longer needed. Our operational target is to remove eligible copies within five minutes. An outage can delay physical removal; cleanup resumes during recovery, without extending permission to use an expired credential. These shorter limits are separate from the 30-day personal-data deletion window.

Deleting your Neat account and revoking Neat’s Sign in with Apple authorization are separate actions. Automatic Apple revocation is not yet enabled. If a credential is unavailable or the result is uncertain, you can remove Neat’s access in your Apple account’s Sign in with Apple settings. Neat account deletion remains available either way. A revocation attempt does not establish that every separate Apple authorization has been revoked.

The scope of account cleanup includes your personal account data, cabinet, cocktail and tasting logs, and associated personal media. Non-personal facts contributed to the shared bottle or recipe catalog may remain without your account attribution so other users’ records continue to work. This exception does not extend to retaining your personal posts or photos as catalog content.

Some records may need to be retained to meet a legal obligation or resolve a claim. Backup copies have a separate retention cycle. If an exception affects a request, we will explain what is retained and why. You can ask us about the status and scope of your request.

8. Your privacy choices and rights

  • Profile visibility: open You → Account → Edit profile and set Who can see this to Private, then save. Review individual entry privacy when adding or editing content.
  • Device permissions: change permissions you have granted to Neat in iOS Settings. This stops future access covered by that permission; it does not itself delete information you already submitted.
  • Access, correction, or a copy of your information: email privacy@drinkne.at. You can also edit the profile and cabinet details supported by the app.
  • Deletion: use the in-app account deletion action described above. Email is an additional channel for questions, website-related data requests, and help when you cannot access your account.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw it through the relevant setting or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.

Depending on applicable law, including Brazil’s LGPD, you may have rights to confirm processing, access and correct information, request portability, object to certain processing, request anonymization, blocking or deletion, and learn about sharing and the consequences of declining consent. We may need to verify that a request concerns your account before disclosing or changing personal data.

You can raise concerns with Brazil’s Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD) or the data-protection authority where you live. We respond to rights requests under the deadlines and conditions that apply to them.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as securing the service and responding to support requests, balanced against your rights. We rely on consent where it is required, including for optional permissions. The basis depends on the purpose and the law that applies to you.

10. Security

We use measures such as encrypted connections, access controls, and restricted infrastructure access to protect personal information. No system can guarantee absolute security. We investigate security incidents and notify affected people and authorities when required by applicable law.

11. Age eligibility

Neat is for adults. Account creation requires an age of at least 18, and you must also meet the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction. The app is not intended for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

12. Cookies and local storage

This website does not use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider may use essential storage or similar technology for security and delivery. The iOS app stores account-session information, cached catalog data, and your local changes on your device to support sign-in and offline use. Unsynced changes are sent when the app reconnects.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. We will provide additional notice of material changes and obtain consent where required. A policy update does not by itself constitute your consent to a new use of your information.
